Trust & Estate Services

Advice is available for those wishing to avoid the unintended consequences of not having made a will, and for those who may think Inheritance Tax (IHT) is a voluntary tax paid by individuals who distrust their heirs more than they dislike the Revenue.

The administration of estates is always carried out with a sympathetic approach to the family's circumstances. The family may have reasons to alter the benefits passing under a will of someone who has died, or the distribution of the estate if there is no will. Not all of those reasons may be to save IHT, although in-depth advice on the taxation of the estate, before and after variations are made (and reducing tax where possible), is always an option.

It may beneficial to consider the advantages of lifetime trusts where outright gifts to the financially vulnerable, such as young children, or beneficiaries at risk such as those facing divorce or claims from their creditors, would be inappropriate. One can retain a degree of control over the future of the gift by judicious use of trusts.

You may have concerns about the liability of your estate for care fees and responsibility for your financial, property or personal welfare at some time in the future. Our help and advice can give you the reassurance you need regarding preservation of your hard earned assets.
